Project Main Description:

People with dementia living in residential aged care have low levels of physical activity and exercise programs tend to be poorly attended. We think you can dance! is a cognitively enriched social dance program designed to increase participation in physical activity by people with moderate to severe dementia living in residential aged care facilities. The program takes familiar movements and builds on these in a choreographed way to increase physical and mental complexity while being fun and engaging. It is manualised and has been designed to be scalable and potentially self-sustainable. The program is delivered by professional dancers with the help of staff volunteers.

This project is funded by the Thomas Foundation.
