Colliers International Residential has raised over $70,000 for the Wipeout Dementia campaign led by the Centre for Healthy Brain Ageing (CHeBA), UNSW Sydney at their annual Residential Developer’s charity event held on Friday, 7 September 2018.

“This cause has become an important one for the entire team at Colliers,” said Managing Director Peter Chittenden.  “I’m extremely proud of my staff and grateful to our corporate sponsors for getting behind Wipeout Dementia and raising over $200,000 in just a few years.”

Spokesman for The Dementia Momentum initiative and Ambassador and inspiration behind the Wipeout Dementia campaign, Mr Richard Grellman AM, spoke at the property luncheon and extended his thanks to the team at Colliers International for their enduring support of CHeBA’s research into dementia.

“It’s motivating to see an industry get behind the cause,” said Mr Grellman.

“We know that the future of dementia is going to be devastating both socially and economically without an exponential increase in research outcomes and I commend Colliers for their extraordinary fundraising endeavours,” he said.

Along with keynote speaker Mark Bouris and MC Peter Chittenden, more than 350 people attended the VIP luncheon held in the Grand Ballroom at Luna Park.  These guests included Colliers’ representatives, sponsors and the industry’s most prominent residential developers.

Peter Chittenden was a competitor in the inaugural Wipeout Dementia event in May 2015 and has since continued to provide in-kind and fundraising support both personally and professionally, with 2018 being the third year that the Colliers’ annual developers’ lunch has supported the research activities at CHeBA.

On Wednesday night Colliers also hosted the launch event for the November 2018 Bondi Beach Wipeout Dementia at their George Street, Sydney offices - with a new wave of surfing executives from the property industry joining the cause and gearing up for the contest on 23 November.  This year Wipeout Dementia is for the first time boasting four teams of property executives captained by Peter Clemesha of Avenor, Philip Vivian of Bates Smart, Craig Rodgers of Charter Hall and Steve Watson of Steve Watson & Partners.

CHeBA Co-Directors Professors Henry Brodaty and Perminder Sachdev are humbled by the enduring support of Colliers International, which they said was critical to continuing to achieve the outcomes of The Dementia Momentum.

“Such solid and ongoing corporate support from members like Colliers International allows us to extend our research objectives to create lasting social change around dementia incidence,” said CHeBA’s Co-Directors.
