On 2 February 2017, dedicated athletes from 5 prestigious gyms across Sydney will go head to head in a gym tournament in an effort to fundraise for The Dementia Momentum® initiative at the Centre for Healthy Brain Ageing (CHeBA).
ALL I SEA will be hosting the fitness challenge which will see team members from 98 Riley St Gym, Complete Strength and Performance, Definition Fitness, Flow Athletic and Women of Treign go head to head in what is expected to be a fiercely competitive relay.

Cognitive Decline Across Different Countries – COSMIC

The Cohort Studies of Memory in an International Consortium (COSMIC) is a collaborative effort of researchers from around the world. We identify important topics for research, and share data from longitudinal, population-based studies of cognitive ageing to create a better understanding of what causes dementia, including Alzheimer’s disease.

Gap State High Fundraises for CHeBA

Michael Gibson, year 12 student at The Gap State High School was successful in his bid for CHeBA to be the recipient of the School's free dress donation program. Fellow Student Advisory Committee members Pia Walters, Zac Woodroff-Pierson and Julia Twomey backed Michael in his bid which generated $500 in gold coin donations to The Dementia Momentum® initiative at CHeBA.

ICC-Dementia - Collaborators' Conference

The 22nd Meeting of the International Consortium for Cententarian (ICC) Studies held from June 15-19 in Portugal gave CHeBA researchers the opportunity to meet with collaborators and gain expert input on the progress of ICC-Dementia.
Formed in 2012 and led by CHeBA (the Centre for Healthy Brain Ageing), ICC-Dementia brings together international studies to apply standard diagnostic criteria for dementia in centenarian cohorts. City2Surf First Timers Run for Mum

At the age of just 61, a mother of three adoring children and seven beautiful grandchildren was diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer’s disease. Her specialist physician was CHeBA Co-Director Professor Henry Brodaty. A mere five years on and this loving Mum, Suellen Grellman, is now living in a high care nursing home and requires assistance with everything that she does, including eating and drinking.

Wipeout Dementia® 2016 Exceeds Fundraising Target

Twenty of Sydney’s corporate surfers, led by Ambassador Richard Grellman AM, combined forces to raise awareness around the modifiable lifestyle factors for improving brain health, as part of the third Wipeout Dementia® campaign.
The gruelling four-week strength for surfing training course culminated in a Surf Off on Saturday, where participants demonstrated their newly honed skills while raising funds for The Dementia Momentum®, an initiative of the Centre for Healthy Brain Ageing (CHeBA).

The John Holden Family Foundation became the first Diamond Member of The Dementia Momentum® when it committed $600,000 to CHeBA’s initiative to be received by mid-2016.
