Morgans Foundation has continued its outstanding record of support of The Dementia Momentum®, recognised through an upgrade from Bronze to Gold membership in April 2016.

To date, Morgans Foundation has committed in excess of $50,000 to CHeBA’s initiative through a combination of direct donations, event sponsorship and longer term funding commitments.

Morgans Foundation first supported The Dementia Momentum® by sponsoring Spokesman Richard Grellman AM in the inaugural Wipeout Dementia® campaign in May 2015.  Following this event Mark Gross, Executive Director - Corporate Advisory at Morgans Financial, joined as a participant in the November Wipeout Dementia® campaign.  The partnership with CHeBA was further strengthened this year when Morgans Foundation became a major sponsor of Wipeout Dementia® May 2016, with an additional donation of $10,000 to The Dementia Momentum® and a commitment of $30,000 during 2017-2019.

“We are delighted to continue our support of The Dementia Momentum® through best endeavour commitments over several years,” said Chairman of Morgans Foundation, Bruce Wallis.

Mark Gross said participating in Wipeout Dementia® was an inspiring experience which improved his understanding about the disease and the need for greater research funding in this area.

“It is encouraging that simple lifestyle changes such as increasing physical activity through enjoyable pastimes like surfing can make a difference to dementia risk,” said Mr Gross.

“I’ve been proud to support CHeBA’s research and look forward to continued findings about risk and protective factors and evidence-based strategies for changing dementia incidence in the community,” he said.

Richard Grellman said that longstanding partnerships were integral to achieving The Dementia Momentum®’s goals, including widespread community change to reduce dementia risk.

“The public health impact of dementia is enormous and confronting, but we are optimistic that ongoing partnerships between CHeBA and corporate philanthropic bodies like Morgans Foundation will help us to take on the challenge,” said Mr Grellman.
