The Worshipful Master from Lodge Harold Herman Unity, Very Worshipful Brother Mark Arenson, presented a $4,000 cheque to Ms Angie Russell, CHeBA’s Centre Manager, on 26 September 2018 at the Laurelbank Masonic Centre in Willoughby.

Very Worshipful Brother Mark Arenson said he was delighted with the funds raised at their inaugural trivia night on Saturday, 11 August and felt it was important for community groups to learn more about dementia and support advances in research.

“This was the first time we had applied for a MasoniCare grant,” Lodge Secretary Brother Mark Harris said.

“We were delighted with their support to match what we had raised under the Interaction Grant program for research at CHeBA,” he said.  “We were encouraged to support this cause after reading an article about a Sydney artist’s family donating proceeds of art sales to CHeBA.”

CHeBA’s Co-Directors Professor Henry Brodaty and Professor Perminder Sachdev extended their gratitude to Mr Harris for his fundraising effort.

It is always humbling to come across community members who see the value in raising money for research at our Centre.

“For someone to go beyond that and apply for additional grant funding to match a trivia night’s total raised is extremely generous,” he said.
