Dr Darren Lipnicki is the Study Coordinator of COSMIC (Cohort Studies of Memory in an International Consortium). COSMIC has brought together longitudinal cohort studies of cognitive ageing and dementia who identify important topics for research and share data to better understand the determinants of cognitive ageing and neurocognitive disorders. There are currently 27 COSMIC members, representing 18 countries and 5 continents. Darren also works on projects using data from the Sydney Memory and Ageing Study (Sydney MAS), and the Sydney Stroke Study (SSS). Current investigations include analysing risk factors for cognitive decline across international cohorts (COSMIC), identifying similarities in the risk factors for mild cognitive impairment, dementia and mortality (Sydney MAS), and validating new VASCOG criteria for vascular cognitive disorders (SSS).
