"To be able to do activities that keep me fit and assisting in raising funds and awareness for CHeBA is a win win for me. I couldn’t be more excited to come on board as a Fitness Ambassador. We are living in quite a scary time as a working population in Australia. We not only have an ageing population that is going to put enormous strain on the health system and economy, but we are also a generation that are really pushing ourselves hard with long hours at work. This imbalance of work takes a toll on our lifestyle choices such as eating habits and exercise, the two factors that we are addressing as major influences on the health of our ageing brain. As a Fitness Ambassador it is ‘our mission’ to speak up and advise our fellow peers that we need to start making changes to our lifestyle choices as the consequences later in life will lessen your standard of life and consequently that of your loved ones.
I’ve seen the effects of dementia from my partner's grandmother. It is a heart-breaking ailment that no one should have to endure. By helping CHeBA in bringing awareness and funds to their brain research we can decrease the chances of our population contracting these ageing brain diseases."
What does "Healthy Brains. Positive Ageing" mean to me?
“Healthy Brains, Positive Ageing” to me is the wholistic attitude people should take when considering their health. By being active and eating a nutritional diet you can assist yourself for a healthier you - not just physically but mentally. Prevention is always better than a cure. If we can instil into society to “Slip, Slop Slap” to prevent cancer we can certainly push exercise and healthy food to prevent debilitating brain diseases.
